Microconsulting Q & A

The Answer Machine by Kronick
Since I introduced the Twitter-inspired idea of microconsulting last week, there have been plenty of thoughtful questions and helpful feedback.
The idea of providing 140 character answers to business questions was labeled “genius” and “clever”, as well as “stupid” and “ridiculous”.
Big thanks to everyone—from the cheerleaders to the skeptics—for their part in sussing out how this microconsulting thing is gonna work.
From their input, here are questions about 140 Character Consulting that are answered in… …wait for it… …140 characters:

My mother is a recovering perfectionist. It’s been decades since she ironed pesky wrinkles from her cotton socks, and just last week she left a dirty dish in the sink overnight…imagine!
And while I’ll joke about her few remaining semi-obsessive habits, there is one that I appreciate and fully embrace: Anything that touches your skin or that’s with you all day must be great quality.
That may sound crazy—and heck, it may be crazy—but that doesn’t make it less valid. We don’t benefit in any way from constant, close proximity to cheap, crappy stuff. If you doubt me, use substandard toilet paper and body lotion, or wear poor quality underwear, socks, or pantyhose. Heaven help you if you go for all those cheapies on the same day: Welcome to Itch City, population 1.
So, giving credit to Mom’s influence and in the spirit of Ten Tech Tools for the Mobile Entrepreneur by Kyle Claypool from On Your Business, here are five quality business tools that make my day, all day, every day: Read more

Thankfully, I got the same encouraging and helpful feedback BBB commenters give all the business bits that get posted here. And as always, I appreciate every word of it!
We had a good giggle about the alleged cleverness of my 140-character microconsulting service—which inspired yesterday’s Super Genius post—but the larger discussion ignored the nature of my services, and even the technology I’ll use to deliver them. Instead, we bantered about how much I wasn’t charging for it. Read more

DailyOm is a mighty fine example of an email newsletter paired with a multi-faceted website. Observed in toto, it’s a motherlode of strategies and tactics for anyone trying to leverage their published content for online income.
Rather than appproach it as a lengthy case study (it would takes weeks, y’all!), I’ll share nibbles of DailyOm’s workings as I assess them over the next month or so. Keeping you in suspense is not my goal, but offering a thorough picture is. Tricky stuff, because every time I return to the website I spot something new—or at least new to me—so we’ll just take it as it comes, ok?
To start, something(s) I’ve appreciated since my very first email from DailyOm are the lusciously subtle labels they use for the many corners of their site. Read more
